Horizon Realty is my family’s business.  My parents, Richard and Jacquie Murtagh, opened Horizon Realty in Frederick Maryland and have been offering professional and personalized real estate services throughout Maryland for more than 25 years.  

I have been involved with the family business for as long as I can remember but joined full-time when my daughter graduated from Linganore High School in 2005.  After she graduated and left for college my evenings and weekends opened up because I no longer had to follow the Lancer's cheerleaders all over the place.  Because a big part of being a good real estate agent involves being available all the time, including after normal business hours and on the weekends, I purposely waited until I did not have to choose between showing a house and watching Lancer football.  

Prior to my real estate career, I worked for more than  25 years as a Business Systems Analyst in the IT industry providing end-to-end business analyses and technical support for a wide range of system development projects in both the public and private sectors.  I have extensive experience working in and managing all phases of the system development life-cycle including end-user requirements definition, documentation and analysis, system design, development and testing, end-user training, system deployment and ongoing production support.   I enjoy working with people and I find it extremely gratifying when I've helped them achieve their goals, whether they be related to business process improvment or finding, building or selling a home. My long-term experience working with people combined with extensive analytical, problem solving, negotiating and project management skills seamlessly integrate with my real estate career. 

I am a member of local, state and national real estate trade associations, as well as a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).  I grew up in Frederick County and have lived and worked in this area for more than 25 years.  As a long-time resident and active Realtor, I maintain an intimate knowledge of the communities that makeup our market place.  I specialize in all of Frederick County, and do business in most parts of  the bordering counties of Washington, Carroll, Howard and Montgomery.
